I Don’t Sleep With Men

I woke at 4.05 this morning when the chap in the next bed woke me to tell me that he thought I was going to snore.  "Was I snoring?”  “No.  But you sounded as though you might."  Eh?

It took me a while to realise it was a dream.

I have always been told that one of my (obviously few) good points was that I didn't snore.  Having said that "the girls" tell me when we go away to croquet tournaments that I do snore sometimes.  Ah well.  Good job I generally sleep alone these days.

The rest of my morning in bed was peppered with more nightmares.

I’m not going to bed early (ie before midnight) again if that’s what happens.

  1. Would you like a few kids to look after for a few days? - sure way to guarantee a good night's sleep!

  2. Aw, c'mon. "obviously few" - why obviously? Let me tell thee the ways...starting with your humbility.
You sound like you need a good larff. Is there a video shop in Stornaway? Get out "The Science of Sleep" if you can. Or order it. A delight.

  3. I think I'll pass on the kids ta, Pauline. Although I'll have Fraser and Catriona for a week in June but I'll have their Mum too so I'll be able to cope.

Katherine it was a sort of slip. Both my wife and my second partner commented on the fact that I was good in bed ie I didn't snore and I didn't hog the bedclothes. The fact that the relationships didn't survive always reminds me that not snoring and not hogging the bedclothes are insufficient virtues to keep a relationship going. And I don't seem to have the other qualities required.

I think it must have something to do with living with people though and not to relating to people. I have friendships stretching back a lifetime. I treasure my friends. I have friends who were lovers and who are still friends because friendship requires a love which transcends being a 'lover'. But I didn't live with them!

I laugh a lot. It's good for the soul (and the body). I trust your judgement implicitly so I have already ordered "The Science of Sleep". I look forward with bated breath.

Which reminds me. It's nearly 2 am so I'd better go and do my toothypegs and get to sleep. Hopefully to sleep and not perchance to dream.

  4. Maybe you woke yourself up starting to snore - kind of "checking yourself"? Anyway I hope you got a better night's sleep tonight. Thanks for catching up, I'll get back to you soon.

  5. Funny dream :) And, I think that I've nudged, shoved, almost pushed off the bed....Ray a few or more times in our married years because he was on the prelude of a good honking snore. You can't let one begin or you'll never get them to stop ;)

He snores less when on his side.
